Privacy Policy

We collect as little personal data as we can to run a free reading service. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. The data controller is Nassim Jmal, Route de Teniour km 7, 3041 Chihia, Sfax, Tunisia (contact@jadepavilionnovels.com).

What we collect

If you create an account

• Account details: username, email address, a securely hashed password, optional display name and bio.
• Reading data: your library, favourites, reading progress, reading history and bookmarks. These are private and never shown to other users.
• Contributions: ratings, reviews, comments, reports and novel submissions.
• Session cookie: a random token that keeps you signed in. We store only a hash of it.

If you read without an account

• Your reader settings and reading position are saved in your browser's local storage, on your device only.

Anonymous usage statistics

To understand which stories are read, our own analytics count page views, chapter reads, completed chapters and searches as daily totals. We do not store IP addresses, device fingerprints or user identifiers for analytics. Your browser keeps the date of your last visit locally so we can count new versus returning visitors without identifying you. If your browser sends “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control”, we do not send these statistics at all.

Security logs

Your IP address is used briefly in memory to rate-limit abuse (for example, repeated failed sign-ins). It is not written to our database.

Advertising

The Service is funded by advertising. When ads are enabled, advertising partners such as Google may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads and measure their performance, and — only with your consent where the law requires it — to personalise ads. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can change your choice at any time with the “Privacy choices” link in the footer.

Why we use your data (legal bases)

• To provide the Service you asked for (contract): accounts, library, progress, reviews.
• Legitimate interests: security, preventing spam and abuse, aggregate statistics to improve the catalogue.
• Consent: personalised advertising and optional third-party analytics, where required.
• Legal obligations: responding to copyright notices and lawful requests.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who host the Service or send our emails, with advertising partners as described above, and when required by law.

Retention

• Account data is kept until you delete your account.
• Expired sessions and password-reset tokens are deleted automatically.
• Aggregated statistics contain no personal data and may be kept indefinitely.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export and delete your data. Use account settings to edit your profile, download your data as JSON, or permanently delete your account. You can also contact us. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to object, restrict processing and complain to your data-protection authority.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

We will post any changes here and update the date above.
